The Klipkop Wildlife Sanctuary has been accepted into the global network of sanctuaries known as the Wildlife Land Trust (WLT).
The Wildlife Land Trust was established in 1993 by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), to 'save lives by saving land'.
The WLT exists to protect wildlife by preserving natural habitats and permanent sanctuaries.
To accomplish this, WLT protects property through a variety of binding and voluntary agreements. In the US / Canada, these
arrangements include land ownership, permanent conservation easements and management contracts. Elsewhere, mostly voluntary agreements
are formed with landowners and non-governmental organisations.
The WLT provide resources for various international wildlife projects in a number of countries, including
Rumania, Belize (formerly British Honduras, Central America), Indonesia, India, Australia and South Africa.
More than 100 sanctuaries are now recognised in 38 US states and 8 foreign countries.
WLT have previously worked with major conservation initiatives in South Africa, including Kruger and Addo National Parks.
They remain involved with the Flower Valley (Cape Floral Kingdom, Western Cape), the SanWild Wildlife Sanctuary (Hoedspruit, Limpopo province)
and the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve (Limpopo province). Klipkop is both delighted and honoured to be accepted into a network of such respected conservation organisations.
The Wildlife Land Trust, Humane Society US and Humane Society International, are all part of the same big conservation family.
