General Hike Information
- What days of the week are you open for bookings?
The Klipkop hiking trails are open all year round. You can hike weekdays or weekends, but bookings are essential!
- By what time do we need to arrive?
We ask walkers to be at Klipkop by 9:30am. This facilitates a prompt departure by 9:45am.
- What kind of attire should I wear?
We suggest that walkers wear sturdy footwear, preferably hiking boots. As far as clothing goes, have a few layers in the cooler months.
That way, you can take off a layer once you warm up. If you have any allegies that are triggered by grass, then we'd suggest long pants and a long shirt.
You will be getting 'up close and personal' to a lot of vegetation.
- What gear do I need to bring with?
The hikes on Klipkop are day walks, so a day pack is all you need to carry. You will need to bring a container for water.
We suggest 2 litres of water per person. We also recommend bringing binoculars, and a camera if you wish. Sunscreen, sunglasses, repellant and a hat are important for the warmer months.
BYO snacks and lunch.
- Are there any restrictions as to who can hike on Klipkop?
Anyone over the age of 16 can take a hike on Klipkop. The distances involved preclude the
participation of children. You also need to be of reasonable fitness. Vehicles are only available in emergency circumstances.
- What happens if I can't make the distance?
We shoot you and leave you as carrion for the vultures! No, really.
If you are struggling, then all you need to do is let the guide know. There are a variety of short-cuts home.
- We're experienced hikers. Can't we walk by ourselves?
Unfortunately, we only offer accommpanied hikes, as you are hiking on private property. Look at the bright side ... you won't get lost!
- Can I bring my dog(s) on the hike?
Dogs are welcome, but they will need to be on a lead.
- Can we purchase food and beverages there?
Unfortunately, no. You will need to bring whatever you wish to eat and drink for snacks / lunch with you. You are most welcome to
use the braai facilities afterwards, but you will need to plan ahead and bring everything you need.
- Can we get a game drive?
Absolutely. The fee is R100 per person (minimum R300), maximum 6 persons per drive.

We strongly recommend that you fill your bottles prior to heading out.

Nope. You'll just have to get in touch with nature and go bush!
