Tony Prince and
Mary Lewis

Tony and Mary have dedicated their time, money, land and home to the conservation efforts on Klipkop.

Their passion for wildlife and the environment is equalled only by their compassion for anything on 4 legs.

Tony and Mary joined the Landowners Association at its inception in 1999. They were among the first landowners to lease their plots into the Sanctuary, contributing to its initial size of 400Ha.

Mary is currently the Chairperson of the Klipkop Landowners Association.

The Klipkop Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre was a feature of the Klipkop Wildlife Sanctuary from 1999-2005. The specialist bird and small mammal rehabilitation centre was managed by Judy Davidson, one of South Africa's best avian 'rehabers'. The Centre was responsible for rehabilitating, and where possible, releasing over 1,000 birds and mammals each year.

Operating costs of the Rehabilitation Centre were in the vicinity of R10,000-R15,000 per month. Tony and Mary used proceeds from their Klipkop Car Care business to support the Rehabilitation Centre from 2002. Previously, the Rehabilitation Centre had been sponsored by Karl Gribnitz, another businessman and property owner within the Klipkop Conservancy.

In February 2005, the Klipkop Rehabilitation Centre relocated to Benoni and is now the Wildlife in Crisis Centre.

House Manager: Meisie

Meisie runs the house. It's difficult to find a cat's whisker out of place after she's been through. Meisie looks after the accommodation, and takes care of the catering and cooking. She's well known for being horrified if there are any left-overs after dinner. So eat up!

Marketing: Julie Blair

A former volunteer at Klipkop who just won't go away! Tony and Mary only temporarily succeeded in sending her home to Australia. Now she's back in ZA. Klipkop remains her part-time passion.
