Klipkop changes dramatically with the seasons.

During the wet summer, you can literally watch the grass grow. Within weeks, ankle-high grass reaches above your head. The lush greens are contrasted by the colours of the flowering grasses.

During the dry winter, many trees are bare and the ground cover takes on a metallic hue. It becomes tinder for tremendous veld (bush) fires that can turn the rocky, undulating Bankenveld to ashen in minutes. But nature has a tremendous capacity to restore itself, providing it is not taken to task too often, and new growth begins again.
