International Volunteer Programme - Overview

Since October 2002, Klipkop Wildlife Sanctuary has run an international volunteer programme. The volunteer programme has attracted hundreds of people, 18 years and over, from around the world, to participate in our unique wildlife and environmental conservation project.

The volunteer programme will be formally closing at the end of 2009. Stays beyond November will be by arrangement only. So, if you are thinking of volunteering with us, it's getting very close to 'now or never' ... Get on and sign up today!

International Volunteer Programme - Why

Why get your hands dirty?

Volunteering is a great way to actively support a cause you believe in. Donations of money are always gratefully received, but when you are prepared to donate time, money and effort, it's something special. Volunteers have the satisfaction of travelling with purpose, of being more than just tourists. And it's not just the cause that benefits! More >>

International Volunteer Programme - What Volunteers Do

What volunteers do

Volunteers participate in many aspects of maintaining a wildlife sanctuary. The majority of the work is environmental conservation: preserving the habitat that supports the bird and animal life. But there are also game assessments and bird census to undertake - as if you need an excuse to get out and take in the wildlife. More >>

International Volunteer Programme - Where Volunteers Stay

Where volunteers stay

It won't be quite like home, but it's not too bad either. Volunteers live in home-style accommodation. Each room is fitted with basic furniture, and holds 2-6 volunteers. There's a computer for general use, and internet access if you really want to find out what's going on back home. More >>

International Volunteer Programme - Where Else to Have Fun

Where else to have fun

Where do we start? There are dozens of things to do during your weekends. Whether you would like to visit other conservation initiatives, see the great national parks, shop for arts and crafts, or take in some theatre, it can all be done.
