Volunteers can be of any age, from any country and from any background - we've
had lawyers, accountants, marketers, veterinarians, nurses, medical students, pharmacists, programmers, engineers, scientists,
artists, actors, writers, radio DJs, teachers and TV producers through our volunteer programme.
What we are trying to say, the long-winded way, is you don't have to have an environmental or natural science degree, or
any experience in conservation to come join us.
Different people volunteer for different reasons. These are some of the reasons we've heard from our volunteers:
- "I've been a nature lover ever since. I have a true concern for wildlife and nature.
I'm also very interested in African culture. And i love to travel and meet people from different backgrounds and cultures."
- Leo M., Philippines
- "I've always wanted to go to South Africa. When I came across your website I knew that I wanted to be a part of something so important and so great...
what a great way to give back to the land, its wildlife and the people of africa!!! I really want to be a part this, to learn, as well to do what ever it takes to help out." - Mary-Jo S., Canada
- "My first love is the environment and animals. I have found from my previous volunteering that I gained a considerable amount of information
and was able to enlighten more people back home who do not have the opportunity to get involved." - Sue B., USA
- "My university requires me to choose an internship to pursue in any country in the world, through any organization, and this opportunity has always been at the top of my list.
I would love to have the chance to see South Africa, to travel on weekends, while contributing to a lasting project concerned with the environment and the betterment of the region." - Andrew M., Canada
- "I have campaigned for animal and habitat conservation throughout my life here in Australia. I experienced South African game reserves as a child and would like to help and support them continue their excellent work." - Perla R., Australia
- "I believe that this opportunity would allow me to explore Africa on my own, while experiencing the people, the culture and the environment first hand.
I have a keen interest in the environment and working towards a better future for the unique wildlife that lies within South Africa.
With this experience under my belt, I believe I will have the confidence and knowledge to carry on with my own aspirations and lifetime goals." - Adam C., Canada
The only thing that matters to us is the fact that you care - enough to travel thousands of miles -
and get your hands really dirty to help preserve the natural world.
At Klipkop, you will be helping to preserve an endangered high altitude grassland called Bankenveld.
In turn, this habitat supports bird and wildlife species, many of which have been overlooked by conservation in the past.
We are an emerging specialist buck (antelope) reserve.
Recognise also that the wildlife and environment at Klipkop are not the only things to benefit from your participation.
- You help provide employment for local people on Klipkop.
- By visiting other conservation initiatives, you support a range of South African causes.
- The hand-made souveniers (curios) you purchase helps boost the economy, especially for tribal South Africans.
- All the experiences and stories you share when you return home encourage others to visit South Africa too.
A donation simply doesn't travel this distance!
So, come to South Africa and experience hands-on conservation in one of the most amazing wildlife destinations in the world.
